for a rainy day

Hold Me Closer, Gluten

Me: “I am so sick of having migraines and of my vertigo flaring up and of being tired all the time, and also of Mondays. I would do anything to make this stop and to feel like a person again!”

Mom: “The internet says you probably have a gluten intolerance.”

Me: “You know what…….never mind. I’ve mostly already adjusted to this way of life, so I’m fine. Totally fine. In fact, I’m comfortable with who I am, and empowered, and all of those similar things.”

Mom: “But if you just cut out…”

Me:

Mom: “But it might make you feel better, and…”

Me: <<eats bread with both hands>> “Let’s never speak of this again.”
