Hello friends, and welcome back for another edition of THE EXPLAINING THINGS TO TRACY COLLECTION. Today’s episode: TRACY LEARNS THE ALPHABET.
I have a job. Does that surprise some of you? To know that I actually wake up and put on adult clothes. I know it’s hard to imagine but it’s true. Now, my general job description at work is Admin and/or general manager of tasks we don’t know what to do with. And I love it! (that’s not sarcastic, I actually really like my job). A lot of the time I help cover the front desk, which was the case on that fateful payday when the incident occurred.
So let me set the stage for you: A young woman sits at the front desk, smiling politely and making the generic small talk with people as they come in for their paystubs. Let’s watch:
Tracy: “Good morning, can I help you?”
that person: “I need to pick up my paystub. Last name is Massey.”
<Tracy checks for envelopes. Doesn’t find it. Double and triple checks>
Tracy: “I’m sorry but it’s not here.”
that person: (condescending look) “Are you sure? (condescending tone) Did you check under the letter ‘M’?”
Tracy: “I’d like to stop talking to you now.”
