Hello you bright, shining, magical, wondrous people who read this odd little blog. Did you know that today is our 3 year anniversary?
On this day 3 years ago, I got real sad about my sister moving away and watched a bunch of Harry Potter movies in a choice that historians will one day call “wildly reckless yet serendipitously fortunate.”
I looked it up on the interwebs, and the 3rd anniversary gift is supposed to be crystal, so this is for you:
She is made of wishes and dreams… and… crystal, obviously. But if that’s not really the crystal you had in mind for our gift, than I guess this…?
Either way, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MY LOVES!
Here’s to the hope that life continues to do weird, borderline-horrific-yet-hilarious things to me that I am able to always write about!
Now comes the celebrating! I’m sure you will all want to commemorate this momentous occasion. After all, three years together means we’re through the awkward 1st year beginning phases of our relationship, through the 2nd year identity crisis phase, and deep into the 3rd year stage of ‘let’s-get-into-our-comfy-pants-and-not-leave-the-house-anymore.’ Hazzah for that!
As for me, I decided to celebrate the occasion AT MY FIRST EVER BOOK LAUNCH PARTY!!!!!!!!!!
See, a few months ago I submitted a story to a small and wonderful press (The Geeky Press) looking to put together an anthology.
AND IT GOT ACCEPTED!
AND WE POLISHED IT UP REAL NICE!
AND THEY TURNED IT INTO AN ACTUAL FREAKING PUBLISHED BOOK!!!!!!!
(note to my employer: this is not about you. It’s fiction. Please don’t fire me. I have a puppy to support, and a million dollar a month taco habit.)
AND THAT BOOK IS LEGIT FOR SALE AT LEGIT PLACES LIKE KINDLE, AMAZON, and BARNES & NOBLE!!!!
So happy anniversary friends!!! I now have an actual published book with my work in it!
So on our anniversary I hopped in the car and drove 9 hours to Indianapolis for my first ever book launch party, and it was perfection!
3 years ago I loved to write and knew (as I have known since I was 5 years old) that I wanted to be a writer. But I had nothing to show for it. Then, 3 years later to the day, I have articles all over the internet, I have a book with my name printed in it, I have a blog I absolutely love writing, and I have all of your beautiful, wonderful faces!
Happy 3 years friends!!! Go forth and make questionable choices as you celebrate!
